We first crossed paths through mutual friends at Miami University. During Noah’s fraternity formal in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we just so happened to stay in the same cabin where he was a junior, and I was a freshman. Years later, we bumped into each other at a yoga class, a few months after I had graduated. It was a quick “hi” and nothing more… until a few months later, we ran into each other again during St. Patrick’s Day weekend at a bar. This time, we hit it off immediately. A few days later, we went on our first date and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
Charleston has always been a special place for us. It was the first spot we vacationed together and quickly became one of our favorite getaways. On April 11, 2025, during a trip back to Charleston, Noah planned a day for us out at Folly Beach to check out a lighthouse before dinner. While we were walking along the shore, he got down on one knee and proposed! As we were taking it all in, my sister Emme jumped out from behind the sand dunes with a camera in hand. Noah had flown her out to capture the moment and celebrate with us before we headed home. We spent the rest of the weekend soaking it all in and later celebrated with friends and family back in Ohio. It was the most perfect start to this next chapter.
Noah’s family has been traveling to northern Michigan for years. His mom, Lisa, is a Michigan State grad, and his dad, Pete, grew up in Ann Arbor and attended the University of Michigan. With deep roots in the state, it became a favorite destination for the Dewhirst family. After visiting Petoskey and falling in love with its charm, they bought and renovated a home there. Just four hours from their hometown in Toledo, it quickly became their go-to escape. Not long into our relationship, Noah took me, a true Columbus native, on my first trip to “the state up north.” Despite the playful Buckeyes vs. Wolverines rivalry, I immediately fell for Petoskey’s beauty, especially the lake views, laid-back atmosphere, and perfect summer weather. When it came time to pick a wedding destination, it was an easy choice. We couldn’t wait to share this special place with all of our favorite people.
