It all started with a swipe! After getting to know each other for a week or so in September of 2021, Steve picked a local Chinese restaurant for our first date. Getting to know each other we began to spend more time together, going to a Steelers game, a comedy show and many nights cooking dinner together. Both of us are dog lovers, so we knew introducing our three "fellas" to each other would be a big moment of truth. The meeting went smoothly. The dogs mostly ignored each other and still do to this day, with occasional moments of drama and commotion. Our connection grew stronger and we started to do some traveling - Texas and Jamaica, with a bunch of fun family and friends events in between. The months passed by and summer turned into fall. One day Steve, insisting we were a “hiking” family, loaded the dogs and me into the car and headed off to Coopers Rock. I was a little suspicious, but the outing ended with no engagement ring, much to my dismay. A few weeks after that Steve suggested we go back to Coopers Rock for another hike and I agreed. It was a beautiful day full of adventure. An hour in Steve let me know he failed land navigation, a skill he should have learned in his National Guard training, but we pressed on and eventually found our way to the Overlook. I suggested we skip it that day since there were a lot of people and we had 3 dogs which don’t always behave as they should. Steve insisted we go, and as a kind lady was taking our picture, he got down on one knee and proposed! It was perfect and the way I always dreamed it would be. And the surprises of that day weren’t over. Waiting at home when we got back was a large group of our close friends and family for an engagement party. It was so special for both of us! We very much look forward to continuing the celebrations and becoming husband and wife in April!
