Abby and Stephen met in October 2009 during our senior year of high school. Abby thought of Stephen as the history buff who always sat at the front of the class, and Stephen thought of Abby as the girl whose hair was always wet from swim practice. For Halloween, Abby had invited friends over to carve pumpkins, and one of those friends brought Stephen. Although Stephen and Abby had gone to the same middle school and high school, this was the first time they spent significant time together. While carving pumpkins, Stephen and Abby quickly connected quickly. Just a few weeks later, Stephen asked Abby to Fall Formal and, a few months after that, Senior Prom. What started as a "senior fling" soon turned into a long-distance relationship that overcame four years of college, two semesters of study abroad, and one year of graduate school. Stephen and Abby moved in together in 2015 in Arlington, Virginia, and Abby wasted no time enlightening Stephen on the proper way to fold towels, while Stephen generously shared more hockey facts than you might think humanly possible. Stephen and Abby added two furry additions to their family, Beck and Vogel, in 2016 and have lived happily as a family of four in the District of Columbia since 2018. Stephen's proposal to Abby in February 2020 set up our celebration later this year.
