Incline Village
Rent kayaks or paddleboards and spend a morning on the water!
Chickadee Ridge
Chickadee Ridge trail is a trail on Mount Rose Highway on your way from Reno to Tahoe. My sister Kasey and I did this in the winter, so hopefully you won't need snow shoes like we did! Bring some cereal or bird seed and as soon as you get to the top and see the lake, hold out the food in your hand and let the chickadees come to you!
Monkey Rock Trailhead
Challenging out and back 2.6 mi trail, but the view is so worth it! Can also get a picture next to Monkey Rock!
Tahoe Rim Trail
Want an easier hike with views? Try "Tahoe Rim Trail to Picnic Rock Viewpoint" on Alltrails. This is a moderate difficulty, 3.0 mile out and back hike with a great view of the lake at the end!
Sand Harbor State Park
Crystal clear water, giant boulders, and one of the prettiest beaches in Tahoe. The only downside is paying $15 for parking with an out-of-state vehicle. However, you can walk or bike in along Tahoe East Shore Trail. It's an easy, paved path.
South Lake Tahoe
Explore local breweries, coffee shops, boutiques around this small ski town. Usually some party crowds at night if you want to join them at the bars or casinos!
Truckee
Honestly, just a cute mountain town with excellent restaurants (especially breakfast at Squeeze In). Could even take a scenic train ride from Reno to and from Truckee in the same day! The train will take you along the Truckee River through the start of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Donner Lake
If you want warmer waters than Tahoe, then Donner Lake is your place. The story behind the name of the lake/pass is not pleasant, however the lake itself is quiet picturesque and has our favorite ice cream place (Little Truckee Ice Creamery). Drive up Donner Pass Rd to Donner Summit Bridge for a nice view of the entire lake.
MidTown
Explore the Midtown district for restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and local boutiques. Try Two Chicks restaurant for the best breakfast in town!
Truckee River Walk
A nice walk along the Truckee River through Reno. If you go early the day of the wedding, you can check out Riverside Farmer's Market in Idlewild Park. If you get in before Friday night, check out Food Truck Friday in the same location!
