Maid of Honor
Where to begin...Aly & Abby have been "Aly & Abby" for 21+ years now, and Abby has always dreamed of the day she'd ask Aly to be her maid of honor. From being mistaken for twins as children, to growing up together, being major "horse girls," and playing countless games of soccer, to going to college hundreds of miles apart and staying as close as ever, Abby is so lucky to have Aly as a non-biological sister and forever best friend.
Best Man
Having known him since birth, Shane’s brother Michael has had one of the largest impacts on his life out of anybody. From being the inspiration for some of Shane’s hobbies and interests to asking him to be the Best Man in BOTH of his weddings, Michael has been there for Shane since Day 1. Since Michael is 8 years older, Shane must have been such a "tame" teenager because he got to see all the trouble Michael got in growing up. ;) Abby and Shane have loved watching Michael become an amazing husband and dad, and they feel so lucky to have him in their life!
Bridesmaid
One year in high school, after sitting together in the school cafeteria everyday, Lauren came to the friends beach trip with Aly, Abby, and Audrey, and after that trip Abby knew Lauren was crazy enough to stick around. Ever since, the group has bonded over small town news, our adventures at our respective colleges, and entering into "adulthood" together. Lauren always makes sure everyone around her has a good time, and her sass will put you in your place and make you laugh all at once. You can always count on Lauren to brighten the mood and have your back.
Groomsman
Josh was introduced to Shane through his brother Michael and they hit it off immediately. From sharing a favorite football team to playing the NHL video game franchise for years, Josh and Shane have talked to each other pretty much every day since even though it took them 7 years to meet in person. They're so close that when Josh and his wife Sara asked Shane to write a personal reference for their adoption application he was honored and ecstatic to do something so important for one of his best friends. Abby acknowledges that Shane almost never laughs quite as loud as he does when he and Josh are playing games together.
Bridesmaid
Audrey and Abby have been best friends (as have their moms!) since they were in Kindergarten. Abby vividly remembers Audrey's house as the "cool" house because she had a cozy basement with a big TV - she's pretty sure they used that space to have a SUPER cool High School Musical screening party... Audrey has one of the best senses of humor, and she and her new husband Logan are the dream team couple of the bridal party.
Groomsman
Having gone to the same high school and college, Logan and Shane have been friends for many years. They share several interests from sports to video games. Logan is also married to Audrey, one of Abby’s bridesmaids and long time friends. Abby remembers being in the same Calculus class as Logan when he and Audrey started dating. Being the good friend she is, Abby obviously had to scope him out to make sure he was a good guy....she thinks it worked out okay. ;)
Bridesmaid
Kaylee and Abby (and Abbie!) started off as random suitemates in Lee Hall at NC State and became amazing friends by choice! From bonding over crazy suitemates and small town stories, LATE night talks, and living in their first "real" apartment together, Kaylee and Abby have some hilarious memories and Kaylee is one of the kindest souls you could meet! No matter how well you know her, Kaylee makes you feel like you matter and she's always willing to lend a helping hand.
Groomsman
From meeting in middle school to becoming roommates for years in college, John and Shane have been there for each other every step along the way. Watching and playing sports as well as being in the same classes were where they spent their time together. When Abby joined them at NC State, she loved watching them be goofy together and being the true third wheel to their late night ping pong matches and brunches at Fountain Dining Hall.
Bridesmaid
When they introduce themselves as "Abbie 1 and Abby 2" you might think these two have always been friends. While their friendship didn't fully "blossom" until partially through college, the quality of the friendship is A1. Abby watched Abbie become her true self throughout college, and her "true self" is such a FUN, outgoing, driven, and loyal friend. Abbie lights up every room she walks into, most likely by saying something hilarious or asking if anyone wants to do shots.
Groomsman
Despite going to the worst of the 3 triangle schools, Henry and Shane have remained friends ever since Abby and Shane started dating in 2011 (Henry was just 12!!). While their main form of bonding is over making fun of Abby, she doesn't mind because she's just glad they get along so well.
Bridesmaid
In 2015, Emily and Abby got into NC State and messaged each other about potentially being roommates. While they ultimately ended up with different roommates, fate still led to the two being roommates for a day at orientation. They fell out of communication that year, but fate would bring them together again years later as teaching assistants and then as classmates (and best friends!) at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. While long days and nights of studying could get exhausting, Emily and Abby make sure to goof off together (sometimes too much) to keep their spirits high and keep life fun.
Dogs of Honor
Abby and Shane adopted Nelly in January 2019, and Wheezy in February 2021. They make everyday better and add so much fun to life. Abby and Shane are hopeful the pups will be able to join in on the celebrations....they have to check their schedule.
Officiant
Adam is Shane's cousin, one of the funniest yet most eloquent people we know, and we're considering forgiving him for being a HUGE Carolina fan... We are so thankful to him for being such a big part of our lives and our wedding day.
