Beacon, NY
~30min drive from the DoubleTree Poughkeepsie is Beacon. This town holds a special memory for us because its where we spent the day before Andrew proposed! Walk around and pop into a variety of thrift stores, candle shops, Hudson Valley Brewery, Dennings Point Distillery, and Bean's Cat Cafe (our favorite! pro tip...reserve a time online).
Walkway Over the Hudson State Park
The park provides access to the Hudson River's breathtaking landscape for pedestrians, hikers, joggers and bicyclists. The bridge deck stands >200 ft above the river's surface and is ~1.3 miles long, making it the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world.
