Abby and Mike met at a barbecue through mutual friends, Jeanna and Ken Roggow. Mike had just moved to Denver for a new job at Paragon 28 with his now boss, Ken. The BBQ turned into a wild night at a local Wisconsin bar, Badgers Pub. The next weekend, COVID hit and shut down the world. The two had one date at Mike’s apartment where he made a delicious salmon dinner for Abby. Dating was difficult with the pandemic, and things fizzled out, until they met again in June for Ken’s birthday at Wash Park. Shortly after, they went on their first “real” date - hiking at Mt. Falcon followed by dinner at Angelo’s Littleton. The following week they celebrated their mutual birthday (June 22nd) at Happy Camper with friends, then a night cap at Avanti, just the two of them. They have been together since, traveling wherever the next adventure awaits and enjoying life to the fullest!
Short story: Mike proposed on a hike. Long story: Mike bought a ring in April, asked Abby’s dad during a visit mid-May, then popped the question Memorial Day weekend. He wanted it to be just the two of them and, most importantly, a surprise. Since several of their dates were hiking, a mountain backdrop was perfect - mission accomplished! They went on a hike to Three Sisters in Evergreen. Halfway through, they decided to climb a large rock to enjoy the view and a drink at the top. Mike wanted to get a selfie with the mountains in the background, and in doing so, Abby asked "where should I look?". Mike replied "why don't you look at me", then got on one (bum) knee and asked. Abby said “of course!” He also asked if she liked the ring. Her response - “what if I don’t?” Luckily, the jeweler switched the ring to exactly what Abby wanted. They spent the weekend celebrating with friends the American way, just the way they met - BBQs and drinks on patios!
