Abby and Marvin met in 2015 at Gardner-Webb University where Abby played lacrosse and Marvin played soccer. They crossed paths at school but ran in different circles. Marvin was a social butterfly and Abby was known to spend a lot of her time studying in the library. Marvin lived in the apartment right above Abby’s and she frequently had to message him to please keep it down while she was studying for nursing exams. This wasn’t exactly a “meet-cute.” They didn’t become close friends until Abby’s senior year. Senior year, they spent small parts of everyday together during their busy schedules. Those small moments together added up to be the best parts of their day. On September 14th, 2018 Marvin casually and ever so smoothly, kissed Abby on the forehead during a silly card game with their friends. From that moment on they were a done deal. Marvin never asked Abby to be his girlfriend or “make it official.” They both just knew they had each other, and that was that. After college, they were long distance for more than 3 years. Abby worked as a nurse in Minnesota while Marvin lived in Tennessee. During this time, Marvin was quarantined for 6 months at his Tennessee National Guard’s boot camp. Over those 6 months Marvin wrote Abby every single day. Long distance was not easy, but just as they say, ‘when you know, you know.’ They always knew their time apart would be a small chapter in their life together. In May 2024, Marvin proposed at Gardner-Webb, where they share their first memories together. They are so excited to begin this next chapter and continue their story.
