Kel let me know that she didn't have a ring yet and wouldn't be able to propose on our trip to Yosemite in May of 2023. She said she was planning on proposing later in the summer. But little did I know that Kel had found the ring, bought it, and hid it for weeks before our trip. She would even try the ring on when I was at work. So when we packed our bags for Yosemite, I had no idea that Kel was a nervous ball of energy on the inside. Looking back, I could see some of the signs. Like when she decided to take "vlogs" of our trip so that we could remember it forever. I was so in the dark that I didn't even realize she was proposing when we reached the top of our very first hike of the trip. She talked about how she fell in love with me during our trip to Duluth a few months into dating and how she couldn't imagine her life without me. I had to finish my big bite of Cheddar Jack Cheez-its before I could respond to the question she asked, "will you marry me?" I was so surprised by how beautiful and perfect the ring was that I forgot to say yes. But of course I said yes. I couldn't stop looking at my ring the whole hike down.
