Fate brought us together in September 2018, at an intimate college party hosted by Justin’s fraternity, Alpha Chi Rho, at the University of Pennsylvania, and Abby’s sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, at Drexel University. Neither of us could have imagined that a casual night out with friends would turn into the start of something so special. By chance, we ended up sitting next to each other on a worn-out leather couch in front of a moose wall mount (yes, really). We bonded over politics immediately… clearly breaking all the "first-date rules" before it was even a date. From the very first moment, there was a connection neither of us could ignore. It truly felt like we’d known each other for years, and hours soon began to slip away without notice. We ended the night grabbing mozzarella sticks with friends, exchanging numbers before parting ways, each hoping the other felt the same spark. The very next morning, Justin sent Abby a text asking her out to dinner and a movie. That was the first of three dates we shared in the very first week of knowing each other, each one confirming what we both felt that first night—that we had found someone truly special. Since that first night, our lives have blossomed in ways we could have never imagined. We’ve shared four apartments together, made the leap from the City of Brotherly Love to the Big Apple, and welcomed our dog Loki into the family. We’ve traveled across states and countries, collecting memories—and, per tradition, a few delightfully tacky Christmas ornaments at every stop. Over the years, Abby has grown her career as a writer and editor, earning bylines in some of the world’s most prestigious fashion and beauty magazines, while Justin completed his PhD at Columbia University and now heads his own biotechnology company. These past seven years together have been a wonderful adventure, and we can’t wait to begin the next chapter as husband and wife, surrounded by the people we love most.
