How We Met

Jeremy and Abby were bound to be together from the start. Both of their dads had been friends since they were in high school, so the two of them had been in each other's lives for a long time though they had never personally connected. On top of this, Abby had been best friends with Jeremy’s younger brothers Jack and Ethan since middle school, so being around the family was very common. In 2020, when Jeremy's older sister Allison got married, Abby caught the bouquet - an hour later, the two had had their first real interaction. Fast forward to December of 2022 when Jeremy's younger brother Jack moved home from college. Abby wanted to see Jack to celebrate and catch up since he was finally home. They decided to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and invite some friends. Since it was so last minute, the only people who ended up being able to make it were Jack and his girlfriend (now wife!) Emma, Jeremy, and Abby. That was the first of many double dates, though they didn’t know it at the time. Two days after, Jeremy messaged Abby on Instagram to ask her out. Abby then proceeded to call Jack in a panic asking his opinion on it. Jack laughed and said that Jeremy had already asked him if it would be ok. Since Jack said he thought it would be a good idea, Abby went ahead and said yes. About a week later on December 29th was their first date. Since nothing was official yet, they were trying to keep it a secret. This was difficult considering two days later was NYE. Abby always went to hang out with the Tutts on NYE, so they had to act as if nothing was going on between them (though Allison ended up picking up on it anyway). A few weeks later on January 19th, they decided to make it official and the rest is history!

The Proposal

8.10.23

Though they had started talking about getting engaged soon, Jeremy’s brother Jack and his fiancé Emma were getting married in August and they wanted to wait until after they got married to get engaged. Jack and Emma’s wedding was in Florida, so they were all getting excited to have a vacation and celebrate them getting married! The Wednesday before they left, Emma called Jeremy asking if he had a plan on how he was going to propose yet. When he said no, she said that he should propose the Thursday they were in Florida. That night Jeremy went to pick up the ring and started making a plan with Emma on how to make it work. When they all got to Florida on Wednesday, Abby was unsuspecting. Thursday came around and they were all going to dinner since many family and friends had flown in by then. Everybody else in the house had made an excuse to leave a little early so they ended up leaving about five or ten minutes after everyone else. They got in the car and Jeremy started driving. Abby asked Jeremy if he knew where he was going. Jeremy asked her to go for a walk before dinner since they had not seen each other much since they had gotten there. Though Abby had a suspicion, there were too many things that didn’t make sense so she quickly put it out of mind and went on the walk. Unknown to Abby, Jack, Emma and Jeremy’s youngest brother Ethan, got to the beach earlier to capture the moment with pictures. Jeremy intended to walk them past all of the people, but he soon noticed two suspicious looking guys standing in the water that looked a lot like his two brothers. Realizing they were his brothers, Jeremy shifted gears and brought Abby straight to the shoreline before she noticed them. At the shore, the two of them looked out over the Gulf as the sun had just begun to set out of the sky. After a minute or so, with Abby standing with her feet in the water and Jeremy just behind her, Jeremy backed up and got down on one knee while pulling the ring out of his pocket. Abby turned around. Jeremy, with the biggest smile on his face, asked, “Abby Jo McCormick, will you marry me?”
