Abby and Jake met on the dating app, Hinge, in the fall of 2022, and after chatting for a bit, Jake asked Abby out. Abby suggested they meet for coffee on a Saturday morning. Of the endless local coffee shops in Chicago, Jake chose a basic Starbucks, which, as a coffee connoisseur, concerned Abby slightly. This made more sense to Abby when she discovered that Jake wasn't much of a coffee drinker. Nonetheless, the date lasted several hours as they talked, exchanged stories, and got to know each other. By the end of the first date, they already had plans to see each other again just three days later! Abby and Jake dated casually before making things official in early 2023. They traveled 2¼ miles back and forth between Lakeview and the Gold Coast to see each other multiple times a week. They loved getting to know each other better by going out to eat, ice skating, bike riding, and visiting the aquarium. Jake even made Abby matzo ball soup—from scratch—when she was sick! In June 2024, they moved into their Wrigleyville apartment together. One year later, in June 2025, Jake and Abby got engaged. We are so excited to celebrate with our favorite people and begin the next chapter of our lives together.
