Grant and I met for the first time in-person at his sister's wedding rehearsal dinner. We both served at our church on the worship team but had never crossed each other's path. Well, one day, I walked in the church and saw him and thought he was the cutest thing. Later that day, I was on Instagram watching stories and his came across my feed and I heard his voice and thought it was so cute (cheesy, I know). So, I did something I normally don't do: I slid into his DM's. And I don't regret it one bit. We talked back-and-forth and really hit it off from the beginning. He asked me to be his date to his sister's wedding, so the day we first met I also met his ENTIRE family -- and when I say "ENTIRE," we're talking aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, in-laws, future in-laws, the whole crew. After that night, we spent every day together (aside from his 24-hour shifts at the fire station). We started dating 11 days after we met and said "I love you" only 5 days after we started dating and I'm telling you, we have been INSEPERABLE ever since. My Mama always told me, "When you know, you know," and let me tell y'all -- I KNEW!
My parents and I had just gotten home from a vacation, and Grant had a super fun day planned for the two of us on Memorial Day. He "said" we were going to a Memorial Day Service downtown where he lives and then have a cookout with his family. I didn't think anything of his taking off work that day because family is a huge part of his life. We were supposedly walking to the service, but when we got in front of his family business, the doors opened and I saw my 90 and 91-year-old grandmothers, along with my entire family and his, and then I knew. I looked over and he was down on one knee and asked me the easiest question I ever had to answer!
