It all started on a summer day in Cincinnati during fifth grade, when young Ethan met Abby’s brother, Adam. That meeting led to an introduction on the tennis courts—though Abby insists she doesn’t remember this fateful encounter (we’re still working on convincing her). From there, we shared middle school homerooms, high school hallways, and a growing friendship that slowly evolved into something more. By junior year of high school, sparks started to fly. Some of our now-favorite (and slightly laughable) early memories include our first date at a Reds game, sitting in awkward silence at PF Chang’s, Orange Leaf frozen yogurt outings, and monthly drives to Kenwood Mall just for two slices of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. College took us in different directions - Ethan to Miami, Abby to OU - but life brought us back together at Miami, where our spark rekindled junior year and we started looking to the future. From late-night sushi takeout and the infamous night Ethan left an entire pizza in the oven until morning (after his brother’s wedding, no less), to learning how to (sort of) share a closet and turn our little apartment into a cozy home, one thing became very clear: this was it. After graduation (and in the middle of a global pandemic), we both made the leap to Chicago. New city, new adventures, same us. So, with clammy hands and a racing heart, Ethan popped the question—and through teary eyes, Abby gave a resounding “Absolutely yes!” We’ve known each other for more than a decade, and now we’re counting down the days until we say, “I do.” It truly means the world to us to celebrate this milestone surrounded by the people who mean the most.
