Things To Do

Wether you just want tips for places nearby in Greensboro, or you are looking to travel outside of Greensboro before or after the wedding! If you plan to make it a travel weekend, don't hesitate to reach out for recommendations.

Greensboro

Greensboro, NC

1. Get Outside: The watershed trails in north Greensboro offer a lot of good trail and good views. Owls Roost is Abby's favorite trail in Greensboro. It is a hybrid 5 mile (total) loop that follows Lake Brandt, with a 1 mile greenway back to the parking lot. (you do not have to hike all 5 miles, you can go in and out if you want) Check alltrails!! 2. UNCG's campus: It's where we met! Tip: Park on Tate St. Walk to College Ave and head towards Peabody park for a trail in the woods. 3. Coffee Shops: Greensboro does coffee well. Here are a few - The Borough, Union, Common Grounds, and Chandlers are some favorites. 4. Food: in order of favorites - Sticks & Stones, Jerusalem Market, Hops, Crafted, Natty Greens, Cookout. 5. Breweries & Bars: A fun scene in Greensboro is the 'South End'. Our recommendation: Start at South End for food and a beer, hop over to Box car for some games and a full bar, next door is The Quarter, a *disney level decor* New Orleans theme bar!

Asheville

Asheville, NC

This is a funky mountain town! *almost guaranteed to have good weather due to its rain shadow effect from the mountains. *knock on wood* Here are a few recommendations. If you choose to go here, please let Abby know I would love to help! -Hiking: Black Balsalm Knob: The most beautiful place I've ever seen -Eat: Chai Pani - The best food I've ever had. -Drink: The Funkatorium is a Wicked Weed location, home of the Pernicious. Also, New Belgium Brewing has a great view of the river. -Tour: The Biltmore is popular! -Do: The Jackson County Fly Fishing Trail is awesome. Hire a guide!

Outer Banks

NC

Cape Lookout National Seashore & Lighthouse This is my all time favorite spot in NC. Arrive in the quaint town of Beaufort, NC then head to the Harkers Island ferry that will take you straight to the lighthouse/ Cape Lookout National Sea Shore. You will more than likely get to watch the wild horses on the islands along the way. To me, it looks like the bahamas. The cove under the lighthouse that the ferry takes you to is calm shallow waters perfect for the best beach day ever. This trip is FAR OUT! 4 hours from Greensboro, but if you are already 18 hours away from home... whats another 4? For our more adventurous friends, research the tides, paddle out, and camp on the outer banks. The outer banks is very hard to get to. This is one of the most accessible spots, but still avoids the crowds due to its far out location. There are plenty of gorgeous beaches in NC, this is just my favorite :)
