If you’re looking for great food, drinks, and river views, the Vancouver Waterfront is one of our favorite spots to visit—and we’ve included some of our personal favorites! Sip wine at Maryhill Winery or Evoke Winery, enjoy a burger and whiskey at Stack 571, or dine in classic style at 13 Coins. For something casual, Crust Collective serves amazing Detroit-style pizza, and Salt & Straw is our go-to for a fun (and delicious) ice cream treat. Everything is walkable and right along the river—perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening out.
If you’re looking to take in some classic Pacific Northwest scenery while you’re here, Multnomah Falls is a must-see. Just about 40 minutes from the Portland Airport, this stunning two-tier waterfall is one of the most photographed spots in Oregon—and for good reason! It’s a super easy stop with a short walk to the base and a little bridge that gives you the perfect view.
Lacamas Lake is a beautiful spot to enjoy the outdoors during your visit. Whether you're up for a peaceful walk along the scenic trails, a bit of hiking through the nearby forest, or time out on the water, there’s something for everyone. The lake is a popular place for paddleboarding, kayaking, boating, and even fishing. It’s a great option for a relaxed afternoon surrounded by classic Pacific Northwest views.
This one’s extra special to us—it’s where we got engaged! Located in Portland’s beautiful Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden is home to over 10,000 rose bushes in full bloom during the summer months. With sweeping views of the city and Mt. Hood on a clear day, it’s a peaceful and romantic spot to stroll through, relax on a bench, or take in the incredible variety of colors and scents. Whether you're a flower lover or just looking for a scenic place to wander, it’s well worth a visit.
Camas Meadows is a beautiful public golf course and one of our favorite local spots. With tree-lined fairways and a peaceful, natural setting, it’s a great place to enjoy a round of golf or simply take in the scenery. This place is extra special to us—Abby (the bride!) worked here for several years. Whether you’re an avid golfer or just want to hit the driving range or grab a bite at Hickory Restaurant, it’s definitely worth a visit while you’re in town.
Oak Tree Station is a perfect spot for casual dining—especially for a relaxed afternoon or evening. Built around a majestic 100‑year‑old oak, this vibrant food cart park features over 20 local and regional vendors serving everything from ramen and shawarma to artisan desserts. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (including a heated patio), a bar with rotating craft beers, a coffee kiosk and bakery, all nestled around a playground and lawn area for families.
A must-visit for book lovers and curious wanderers alike, Powell’s City of Books is the world’s largest independent bookstore—covering an entire city block in downtown Portland. With over a million books spanning every genre, cozy nooks to get lost in, and a charming café for mid-browse breaks, it's easy to spend an afternoon here. Don’t forget to grab a Powell’s tote or a locally made journal as a souvenir!
If you're up for a scenic drive, Oregon’s wine country is just under an hour from Portland and offers some of the best Pinot Noir in the world. The Willamette Valley is dotted with charming tasting rooms, rolling vineyards, and incredible views. Some of our favorite stops include Argyle Winery, Duck Pond, Four Graces, and the Stoller Family Estate. Whether you join a wine tour or venture out on your own, it's a relaxing way to take in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Stretching along the Willamette River, South Waterfront Greenway offers a peaceful urban escape with beautiful walking paths, river views, and places to relax by the water. It’s part of Portland’s revitalized South Waterfront district and a perfect spot for a morning jog, afternoon stroll, or golden hour photo. Fun fact: David led the project team that completed the scenic riverfront walkway—so if you enjoy the view, you can thank the groom!
If you’re up for a little adventure, a day trip to Mount Hood is one of the most breathtaking ways to experience the Pacific Northwest. Towering over the region, Mount Hood offers scenic drives, alpine hikes, and stunning viewpoints year-round. One of our absolute favorite spots to visit in the summer is Trillium Lake, located just below the mountain. It’s a serene lake with a flat, easy walking trail and postcard-perfect views of Mount Hood reflected in the water. Whether you’re interested in a peaceful paddle, a picnic, or just soaking in the scenery, it’s well worth the 90-minute drive from Portland.
