Dan and Abby met the way most millennials do - on a dating app - despite living less than 10 blocks from one another on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. How many times did their paths cross at Rathbones or Stumble Inn, their favorite UES bars, without knowing one another? In their first conversation, he asked her how she felt about pineapple on pizza - to which she responded it is the perfect match. While most New Yorkers deserted the island in early 2020, Dan & Abby braved city life during a global pandemic for almost two years. Romantic date nights at destination restaurants quickly morphed into takeout orders and Netflix-binging. Dan even grew a beard! If they can survive that - they can survive anything. The pandemic presented the couple with lots of time for self-reflection, and the two decided it was time for a new adventure. In June 2021, the couple moved to San Francisco. Abby started her dream job on the investment team of a non-profit foundation, and Dan continued his success as an account manager in HVAC-equipment sales. They moved into their first home together in the Marina, a quaint neighborhood in the heart of San Francisco, nestled between the Presidio & Crissy Fields Beach and a 5-minute-walk to the Golden Gate Bridge. Two quickly became three with the addition of Maple, Dan & Abby's cherished (and mischievous!) pup. The couple spent their time in SF exploring the Bay Area with daily trips to Moscone Dog Park, visits to the Farmers' Market on Sundays, and adventures to Sonoma & Carmel-by-the-Sea. Dan joined a social softball league and together, Dan & Abby started tennis lessons. Their household hosts a fierce, daily competition over the New York Times Mini Crossword Puzzle and their home is filled with laughter, dog barks, and a growing collection of Napa Valley wine! During Thanksgiving week 2022, the couple took their first trip to Italy, devouring the sights of Rome, Florence, and Venice. Dan proposed to Abby on November 20, in the Borghese Park at sunset overlooking Rome in its entirety. It was a moment they will cherish forever. In early 2023, Abby heard news she received a scholarship to Duke's MBA program. She credits the opportunity to Dan's endless words of encouragement and homecooked meals. In June 2023, Dan, Abby and Maple embarked on a 38-hour drive to their new home in Durham, North Carolina. In July, Dan started a new role as an Account Executive at an HVAC equipment sales rep firm, and Abby started her MBA at Duke. They are thrilled to call Durham their new home. Through all life's ups-and-downs, they've found if they have each other, they have it all. They can't wait to welcome you to Lake Geneva to celebrate their wedding!
