What is the dress code?
Answer
On wedding day, we'd like everyone to dress in semi-formal or cocktail attire – with the tropics in mind. Think elegant, but breathable! Ladies, mid or longer length dresses are encouraged. We hope guests use this as an opportunity to dress to impress and have a wonderful time celebrating with us! If you prefer to wear heels, feel free to do so as the ceremony is not taking place on the beach! Gentlemen, linen suits or dress pants with a button-down. Think classic wedding attire, but with the heat taken into consideration.

Are there any hotel guidelines?
Answer
A majority of the restaurants at Secrets Akumal ask for men to be dressed in pants (no shorts) for dinner service. There are 2 restaurants where shorts are allowed, however the others follow this dress code strictly.

How do I get from the airport to the resort?
Answer
Free travel to and from Cancun International Airport is included in the price of your stay! The Cancun airport is about an hour without traffic from the resort, so we recommend booking an early flight so that you can get the most out of your stay. Please contact Melinda, our travel coordinator, with any additional questions.

What is there to do around the resort?
Answer
Akumal is known for its snorkeling and sea turtles, so don’t miss the chance to snorkel right off the shore! The resort offers a variety of activities including kayaking, paddleboarding, fitness classes, a spa, and nightly entertainment. There are also several amazing restaurants on property — from fresh seafood to authentic Mexican and hibachi — and we recommend making reservations in advance for your top choices. If you’d like to explore beyond the resort, the concierge can help arrange excursions like cenote swims, snorkeling tours, or visits to nearby Mayan ruins such as Tulum Ruins.

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes?

We encourage everyone to download WhatsApp - a free wifi based texting app that can be used while in Mexico! Prior to the wedding, we will be updating our wedding website with details and additional information as it becomes available to us.

Yes! Please make sure that yours hasn't expired.

Is the resort all-inclusive?
Answer
YES! :) All food, drinks (alcohol included), and transportation to and from the airport are included in the cost of your room.

What days do I need to be available for wedding festivities?
Answer
We will be hosting a Welcome Party on Thursday, May 21st. We have arranged for a sunset boat cruise on Friday, May 22nd at 6:00 PM. The Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be Saturday, May 23rd at 5pm!

What airport should I fly into?
Answer
Your room package covers transportation to the resort from Cancun International Airport. If you choose to fly into Tulum, transportation from the airport will not be provided (aka please fly into Cancun!).

Is it safe to travel to Mexico right now?

We understand that traveling internationally — especially during potentially uncertain political or global times — may raise questions. Please know that we’ve taken extra care to ensure a safe, joyful experience for our guests. Secrets Akumal is a well-established resort with strong security, and the Riviera Maya region is one of the most popular and stable tourist areas in Mexico. We encourage guests to check current travel advisories and reach out to us if you have any concerns.

Water shoes! Akumal Bay has some rocky areas and sea urchins. Reef-safe sunscreen - Regular sunscreen is banned in many eco areas to protect the coral reef.
