Can I bring a plus one?

We’re so excited to celebrate with our closest loved ones and hope this feels like a joyful getaway for everyone! We absolutely want our guests to feel comfortable and enjoy the experience. If you’d like to bring a plus one who isn’t listed on your invitation, please reach out — we’d love to talk about it!

What is the dress code?

Answer

It'll be hot! We'd like everyone to shoot for something more on the formal side (but not black tie.. more so like a step up from cocktail?) – with the tropics in mind. Think elegant, but breathable! Ladies, mid or longer length dresses are encouraged. We hope guests use this as an opportunity to dress to impress and have a wonderful time celebrating with us! If you prefer to wear heels, feel free to do so as the ceremony is not taking place on the beach! Gentlemen, linen suits or dress pants with a button-down. Think classic wedding attire, but with the heat taken into consideration.

Can I bring my kids?

As much as we love the little ones, Secrets Akumal is Adults Only and therefor no children can be in attendance.

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Please make sure that yours hasn't expired.

How do I get from the airport to the resort?

Answer

Free travel to and from Cancun International Airport is included in the price of your stay! Details will be provided closer to our travel dates. Contact Melinda, our travel coordinator, for more details.

Is the resort all-inclusive?

Answer

YES! :) All food, drinks (alcohol included), and transportation to and from the airport are included in the cost of your room.

Have you reserved a room block at the resort?

Answer

What's the best way to RSVP?

Answer

By reserving your room! Our travel coordinator will compile a list of RSVPs as our guests book their travel accommodations.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

Answer

Travel insurance is optional. If you are unsure, please discuss it with our travel coordinator to determine the best option for you. If you do select travel insurance, if you need to cancel your travel plans for any reason prior to your originally scheduled departure time, you'll receive a refund or future travel credit (depending on the plan you purchase) with the exception of the cost of your plan.

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Your room package covers transportation to the resort from Cancun International Airport. If you choose to fly into Tulum, transportation from the airport will not be provided (aka please fly into Cancun!).

What days do I need to be available for wedding festivities?

Answer

We will be hosting an optional Welcome Party on Thursday, May 21st. Rehearsal will be May 22nd, and our Ceremony and Reception will be Saturday, May 23rd at 5pm. We will be adding additional (optional) events as the day gets closer - so please continue to check the 'Schedule' page on this website! Welcome Party and Rehearsal times are still TBD!

How long can I stay at the resort before/after the wedding?

Answer

The group rate requires a stay of at least three nights and no more than seven nights. Otherwise, we would love for you to stay as long as you’d like! We will be Honeymooning at a later date, so don’t worry about crashing our party! We are looking forward to spending as much time as possible with our family and friends.

We will be arriving Wednesday, May 20th and staying for 7 nights.

Is it safe to travel to Mexico right now?

Answer

We understand that traveling internationally — especially during potentially uncertain political or global times — may raise questions. Please know that we’ve taken extra care to ensure a safe, joyful experience for our guests. Secrets Akumal is a well-established resort with strong security, and the Riviera Maya region is one of the most popular and stable tourist areas in Mexico. We encourage guests to check current travel advisories and reach out to us if you have any concerns.

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Google says the weather in Riviera Maya in May is pleasantly warm, with average highs of 87°F and lows of 73°F.

What should I pack?

Answer

Water shoes – Akumal Bay has some rocky areas and sea urchins. Reef-safe sunscreen – Regular sunscreen is banned in many eco areas to protect the coral reef. A light sweater, or something a tad bit warm to wear at night when it gets breezy!

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes before the wedding?

We will be updating our wedding website with details and additional information as it becomes available to us. In the event of any major changes, we will communicate by email and/or text.
