They met at a Halloween party in Logan at the Little Bear Bottoms Corn Maze. They were both sophomores at Utah State University. They became fast friends and a year later, began dating. The rest is a page in history on their way to living in Salt Lake City as Meghan works at Utah's Hogle Zoo while Austin is getting his masters in Finance at University of Utah.
On Halloween night, four years later, Austin planned to propose to Meghan. He commissioned the help of the best man and the maid of honor to set up a romantic scene in the spot where Austin and Meghan shared their first kiss, a bench next to First Dam in Logan. While Austin distracted Meghan at dinner, the helpers lit candles, placed roses and blankets and even set up a spot light. After dinner, Meghan, unknowingly, suggested a visit to the bench at First Dam. Austin was shocked at the irony of the suggestion but was all too pleased to accept the easy transition to his proposal spot. As the couple approached, Meghan saw the glowing of the candles and spotlight but couldn't quite make out the details of the scene and almost thought they should leave before they stumble upon some strange seance. Once she was able to see the roses and candles clearly, though, her heart leapt from her chest to her throat and she was rendered speechless as Austin fell on one knee and presented an emerald ring.
Meghan and Austin have moved their wedding date to August, 2nd, 2020. Please email the bride if you have questions or concerns. meghankabbott@gmail.com
