If it didn't come from Kentucky, it's not bourbon! You can travel all over the state, but we have some great distilleries here near Lexington: Town Branch Distillery; Barrel House Distilling Co; James E. Pepper Distillery Bluegrass Distillers. A little further out you'll find Woodford Reserve, Castle & Key, and Four Roses.
Lexington is about 45- 60 minutes from the Red River Gorge, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you have an extra day it is well worth the drive for a Spring day hike. National Bridge is a 1.5 highly trafficked, easy, hike that will get you a beautiful view for not a ton of effort. Auxier Ridge Trail to Courthouse is a 4.4 mile out and back, moderate, and popular trail with great views. Sheltowee Trace extends from Northern Kentucky to Cumberland covering 38 sections. But if you start at the Connector Trail #211 you can access the suspension bridge which isn't for the faint of hearts.
