Gracious and loving God, You are not far from any one of us, for in You we live and move and have our being. We pray for those who are seeking You, those who doubt, and those who do not yet know You. We pray that you may strengthen the faith of all your earthly saints. By Your Holy Spirit, draw our hearts to Yourself, grant light where there is uncertainty, and awaken faith where there is longing. Reveal the truth of Your love made known in Jesus Christ, that all who seek may find rest, forgiveness, and life in Him. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our wedding calls for daytime formal attire. Gentlemen should wear a suit and tie, at minimum, with the wedding party dressed in elegant tails. Women may wear fascinators, if they so desire, and a church appropriate dress. Please note that proper attire is required for entry into the Cathedral and Brennan's. For inspiration, we recommend exploring the style of traditional British wedding dress codes.
We respectfully request that no children beyond those in our wedding party attend the ceremony and reception. We will have a babysitter available for children at the Lord home. Please text Jenn if you are in need of the babysitter: 202- 374-7644
Yes, we are happy to accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions! Please ensure you let us know in advance by contacting Luisa: 713-419-9150.
To ensure we can accommodate all our beloved guests, only those explicitly named on your invitation are included. Thank you for understanding!
We kindly request that guests do not take photos at the ceremony. As Christians, we believe that the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony should be observed in reverence to God. As such, there are strict rules regarding photography inside the Cathedral. If necessary, we will have a basket to place phones in. We encourage you to respect the Cathedral’s rules as well as Abbie-Louise and Benjamin’s beliefs.
The ceremony liturgy is from the Book of Common Prayer and includes Holy Communion. Holy Communion is a sacred sacrament of the Church, instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ. In accordance with Anglican teaching and historic Christian practice, we ask that those who come forward to receive Communion be baptized Christians, in good standing and members of a Christian congregation, and prepared through repentance, faith, and self-examination. We encourage repentance through individual prayer and through the right of confession with an ordained priest. Those who do not meet these conditions are warmly invited to remain seated or to come forward with arms crossed to receive a prayer of blessing. We are grateful for your presence as we worship the Lord together and thank you for honoring the reverence of this holy sacrament. “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.” 1 Corinthians 11: 27-29
