Attire for the wedding is semi-formal. Keep in mind that it's going to be a hot day! The ceremony is mostly shaded, and cocktail hour is both indoors and outdoors. With the sun going down around dinner hour it should hopefully be a comfortable temperature, but please plan outfits accordingly. Dinner will be held on cobblestones that can be somewhat uneven, so keep that in mind when choosing footwear!
Although there is no provided shuttle, the Salisbury House & Gardens has a large parking lot located immediately upon entering the grounds for those wishing to drive. Our venue is also close to downtown Des Moines, so Uber/Lyft options should be plentiful.
As much as we adore children, we’ve decided to keep our wedding an adults-only event. We hope parents will enjoy their well-earned night off!
The ceremony will start promptly at 4:30pm, so please be in your seats on the lawn by 4:15!
While we'd love to celebrate with everyone, due to our venue's limited capacity we kindly ask that you only bring a plus one if it is noted on your invitation.
We are not doing a room block, instead we encourage folks to pick a hotel that best fits their budget and needs. See the "Travel" section of our website for additional information.
