Their story began on Paul’s birthday in 2019, after one of Abbey’s volleyball games, when a mutual friend invited Abbey to join them for boba. Paul and Abbey connected instantly and soon found themselves spending most of their time together. After their first date at dinner and a movie, they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. When Abbey left for college to play beach volleyball and Paul continued his basketball career, distance became a central part of their story. They experienced highs and lows and seasons that tested them, but through it all, they felt God guiding and growing them, continually drawing them back to one another. Paul visited whenever he could, supported Abbey at tournaments, and they cherished the summers and breaks spent reunited. Each challenge strengthened their bond and clarified the love they wanted to build. After finishing school, they returned to Houston with renewed clarity and faith. In July 2025, Paul asked Abbey to marry him, beginning the future they had hoped for all along. They now spend their time working out together whether that’s lifting, playing basketball, beach volleyball, pickleball, or training for their upcoming Hyrox. When they aren’t being active, they cook dinner together, try new food spots, watch their favorite shows, spend time with friends, and lately planning a wedding together. Their story has never been perfect, but it has been intentional, resilient, and full of God’s grace—and they are grateful for every step that led them here and can’t wait for their future together.
