We grew up in Shallowater together and always seemed to run in similar circles. Ty even asked me to be his date to my senior prom but I thought he was joking and just brushed him off. After high school ended we ran into each other on a pretty regular basis and even hung out a few times (neither of us knowing if they were dates or not). After graduating from LCU, I moved to Dallas for work and Ty was still in Lubbock finishing his masters degree. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit my company shut down our offices and switched to working from home, I decided to come back to Lubbock and spend some time with my family and work remotely here. My first week back we reconnected and went on our first official date that lasted SEVEN hours because neither of us wanted to say goodbye. We can’t wait for April 10th!!
The weekend I was set to move back to Lubbock, Ty came to help me and told me that he wanted to have one last date in Dallas. On Saturday we went to brunch at one of our favorite spots and then he took me to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. We spent some time walking around looking at the beautiful scenery and Ty was very insistent that we get a picture at a specific spot. I was admiring the beautiful view overlooking the lake when Ty came up next to me and got down on one knee and proposed! I was so shocked and surprised but couldn’t contain my YES. After, we went to eat at a restaurant I had been dying to try, we walked in and immediately saw both our families there. Ty had brought them in from Lubbock to help celebrate with us. I couldn’t have imagined a more thoughtful and memorable day!
