Our COVID Wedding

3.28.2020

Russell and I made the tough decision to honor our original wedding date and were married surrounded by our families on March 28th, 2020. It was such a special day and a day we will both never forget. Postponing a wedding and not a marriage felt less devastating with everything going on in the world. We so look forward to celebrating with all of our family and friends who were not able to be present in March this June 25th. Please RSVP as you feel comfortable and know that our feelings will not be hurt should you chose to not attend. We want everyone to make a decision that feels comfortable and safe for them.

Our Story

Love at First Swipe

It all started with a swipe...a swipe on Tinder that is. Russell's silly sense of humor and handsome smile had Abbey intrigued. They would go on to have their first date in Fells Point at one of Abbey's favorite places, Red Star. While the date did go well, Abbey wasn't quite convinced.. Several months later, Russell built up the courage, with the help from some beverages, to ask Abbey out on another date. Little did she know this would turn into a 7 hour date and he would prove to be the man of her dreams. Fast forward to the current health pandemic. Russell and I decided to honor our original wedding date and had a small ceremony with just our immediate family. It felt a little less devastating to know we were postponing a wedding and not a marriage. The day was special in a very different way, it was better than I could have ever imagined. Every time I walk into Ginny and Russ's kitchen I am reminded of our first dance, sweet and perfect right there in the middle of the kitchen. We still would very much like to celebrate with all of our family and friends in the future when things are safer, as jeopardizing the health of our loved ones is not necessary. We are going to think of it as an I do re-do... or vow renewal!

The Proposal

March 29, 2019

Russell truly out did himself! Russell had convinced Abbey that after work on a Friday the two of them would be joining his cousin, Jaynie and her Fiancé Tyler, for a 'concert' in downtown Annapolis in which his buddy would be playing in the band. Abbey was very tired from work that day and did not want to be rushed :) They make it downtown, link up with Jaynie and Tyler and in true Russell fashion he wants to 'stop in' to the State House to see if there are any old co-workers he knows working that evening. While reluctant, Abbey follows the three of them into the State House and they are immediately greeted by a Police Officer that Russell knows! Go Figure! She asked them about their plans that evening and invited them to 'go to the top' and take a look at the views. Abbey again reluctantly agrees, a decision she immediately regrets after the first 75 steps leading up to The Dome. Once they make it to the top the views are incredible. They were able to see The Naval Academy, Ego Alley, and the spot of our second first date, Boat Yard. Jaynie offers to take their picture which seems like a great idea. Russell suddenly becomes very serious and proceeds to ask Abbey to spend the rest of her life with him! Jaynie was an amazing photographer, thank you for the pictures! After Abbey realizes what is happening, she looks down over the railing to see her entire family, along with Russell's entire family standing in the circle below waving and cheering. Russell and Abbey would spend the rest of the evening celebrating with the family at Red Red Wine Bar. It was truly the most thoughtful act and one I will never forget. It could not have been more perfect.
