Abbey spent her summer historical internship for graduate school here as a docent. Two brothers married two sisters and built a beautiful log cabin mansion in the woods. If you love architecture and cool old stuff, you might love "the house" almost as much as Abbey does!
If you've never been to Sedona, you must while on this trip! Downtown is full of cool shops, boutiques, and restaurants. There are a ton of parks, swimming holes, and hiking trails, too. Take some time to Google what you might like to do and start planning! Sedona is usually 10-20 degrees warmer than Flagstaff, so be prepared with lots of water and layers!
One of the wonders of the world 1 - 1.5 hours away from Flagstaff! We never tire of coming here and bring everyone when they visit us. The Visitor's Center is always a great place to start then Mather's Point. We also like to drive west on the rim to the side which features the Bright Angel Trail, the Bright Angel Lodge, and the historic El Tovar hotel. You can grab a drink, some food, and enjoy the serene scenery!
If you're looking for something to do in Flagstaff, checking out downtown is always fun! Lots of shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and breweries. Old Town Shops is one of Abbey's favorite places to go. Dark Sky Brewery and Pizzicletta are delicious. Hops on Birch always has friendly dogs and a great selection of beers. Karma is great sushi. Pato is great Thai. Missing Michigan? Eat at the Cornish Pasty!
Best pizza in town!! We eat it all the time. Abbey's favorites are the Popeyes and Route 66 pizzas while Mike is all about the Meatlovers. They have 3 locations across Flagstaff. If you're looking for a night to relax and order in, we recommend here.
A really nice flat 2.2 mile trail with great views of the San Francisco Peaks. If you're looking to kill some time, enjoy outside, or want to do something free, we recommend this park.
Kids getting restless? Bring them to the nice public park next to our apartment! There are tons of play sets for all ages, a dog park, a skate park, tennis and basketball courts. You can also just go for nice spots to picnic, hang a hammock, or read a book. If we're home, we'll come say hi!
There likely will not be enough snow to hit the slopes, but Snowbowl is a great place to hike trails, see some views, or take a gondola ride. You might even catch the leaves changing colors! The elevation is about 11,000 feet, so expect physical activities to take a little more out of you.
