We first met in kindergarten and then grew up side-by-side through every school year, sharing some of the same classrooms, the same friend groups, and all the big milestones. At 16, our friendship naturally grew into something more, and we started dating on November 2nd, 2018. Anywhere we went, it wasn't just Joe or just Abbey, we were always Joe & Abbey. We spent all of our junior and senior years of high school together before graduating in 2020 and heading to Iowa State University, where we spent more years studying, cheering on the Cyclones, and building our future. We both graduated from Iowa State with Joe going on to work on the farm and at Cargill and Abbey going on to teach 2nd grade and coach high school volleyball. After college, we bought our first home in March of 2024. It needed major work, so we tore it down to the studs and renovated the entire thing ourselves with the help of our families and friends! We officially moved in to our home in February 2025 and we couldn't love it more! We closed on our first farm in May 2025! In July 2025, during a trip to Mexico with some of our closest friends, we got engaged on the beach. Joe really did pull off the best surprise! Now, we’re planning our June 2026 wedding, excited for the next chapter of the life we’ve been building together since meeting in kindergarten.
