Discover Central Nebraska

We are so proud to be from Central Nebraska. Check out a few of our long-time haunts while you're in the area, and ask any locals at the wedding for recommendations!

Sin City Grill

410 West 3rd Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 398-2237

Great for brunch and dinner, if you're in the mood for a stacked burger, spiked milkshake, or perfectly crispy onion rings.

Odyssey

Odyssey

521 West 2nd Street, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 834-3811

Casual, modern, and innovative cuisine, drink, and service in the heart of downtown Hastings. Get the brussels sprouts and load up on bread if you're a college kid on a budget.

The Chocolate Bar

116 West 3rd Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 675-0664

Great for a light lunch, mid-afternoon snack, or post-dinner dessert and drink. Abbey's high school graduation reception is here, and the baristas truly feel like family (in fact, groomsman Nathan Kosmicki and Abbey met here — he makes the best peppermint chai latte).

Art Bar

Art Bar

647 West 2nd Street, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 705-4149

Best coffee in town. The backdrop of many dates and many term papers. Teas and wines available and beers on tap as well.

Wave Pizza Company

107 North Walnut Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 398-9283

A Central Nebraska favorite. Abbey's dad has called this the best pizza in America over and over — and he would know.

The Goldenrod Cafe

The Goldenrod Cafe

1616 East South Street, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 461-4999

One of Joe's favorite places on earth and the top brunch spot for Hastings College students. A classic, no frills, down home mid-American diner. The interior has probably not changed since the '70s.

Sutter Deli

371 North Broadwell Avenue, Grand Island, NE 68803
, (308) 370-8942

Light lunch fare and homemade cookies. Insider tip: order the off-menu Johnny Appleseed sandwich — it's Abbey's favorite.

Back Alley Bakery

Back Alley Bakery

609 West 2nd Street, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 460-5056

Artisan breads baked fresh every day. It started as a single room and a hand-made brick oven, but has expanded to offer breakfast, lunch, and desserts, and also supports many other local Nebraskans by selling locally made grains, roasted coffee, art, and other goods. You've probably seen it featured on Abbey's instagram.

Kinkaider Brewing Company

316 North Pine Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 384-3655

Perfect spot for Central Nebraska brews and delicious lunches and dinners.

WineStyles & The Bistro Below

WineStyles & The Bistro Below

537 West 2nd Street Ste. 103, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 834-0707

When you walk downstairs from WineStyles, you enter a wine bar and bistro that is both historic and unique in style. The Bistro Below offers a relaxing atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the area. There isn't a jukebox. No TVs. Just warm lighting, friendly faces, and some of the best beer, wine and craft spirits this state has to offer.

McKinney's Irish Pub

123 West 3rd Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 391-2953

Super fun, energetic atmosphere for drinks and music. Joe loves it because it's the only place you can get British beers and ciders.

Steeple Brewing Company

Steeple Brewing Company

717 West 1st Street, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 519-4205

Steeple brews craft beer, inspired by the honest, hard-working folks that fill their glasses on Saturday night and do right by their neighbor on Sunday morning. Each of their beers is inspired by the colorful characters their brewmaster (the chaplain at Hastings College) encountered during his time as a small-town pastor.

J Alfred Prufrock's

308 North Pine Street, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 398-8466

Intimate place for craft cocktails and aesthetic experiences downtown. Delicious.

First Street Brewing Company

First Street Brewing Company

119 North Saint Joseph Avenue, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 834-2400

The first microbrewery in Hastings, First Street offers a wide selection of beers that are first in flavor from grain to glass.

Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer

Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer

3133 U.S. 34, Grand Island, NE 68801
, (308) 385-5316

Abbey spent endless summer days here throughout her childhood, learning how to be a good 1890s Nebraska girl. Truly a great place to spend a few hours — full of quirky learning opportunities.

Hastings Museum of Natural & Cultural History

Hastings Museum of Natural & Cultural History

1330 North Burlington Avenue, Hastings, NE 68901
, (402) 461-4629

The largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver, the Hastings Museum features a large domed planetarium and a 65-foot movie screen, and also houses dozens of animal species set in their natural habitats and chronicles the history of Nebraska's early inhabitants. Don't miss the Kool-Aid exhibit, all about how the famous drink was invented in Hastings!
