Back Alley Bakery
Artisan breads baked fresh every day. It started as a single room and a hand-made brick oven, but has expanded to offer breakfast, lunch, and desserts, and also supports many other local Nebraskans by selling locally made grains, roasted coffee, art, and other goods. You've probably seen it featured on Abbey's instagram.

Steeple brews craft beer, inspired by the honest, hard-working folks that fill their glasses on Saturday night and do right by their neighbor on Sunday morning. Each of their beers is inspired by the colorful characters their brewmaster (the chaplain at Hastings College) encountered during his time as a small-town pastor.

Abbey spent endless summer days here throughout her childhood, learning how to be a good 1890s Nebraska girl. Truly a great place to spend a few hours — full of quirky learning opportunities.
Hastings Museum of Natural & Cultural History
The largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver, the Hastings Museum features a large domed planetarium and a 65-foot movie screen, and also houses dozens of animal species set in their natural habitats and chronicles the history of Nebraska's early inhabitants. Don't miss the Kool-Aid exhibit, all about how the famous drink was invented in Hastings!
