A hobby that took a large part of Gavin's interest in the spring of 2025 was hiking. Our family and friends know that this was not something I was sold on nearly as quickly, many of our hikes started with my occasional complaints about the bugs, the temperature, or something else; I can now admit I was not the best hiking partner. Gavin always brought me along anyway no matter what my attitude was. As we continued through the spring we started setting our eyes are more difficult hikes - New Hampshire's 4,000 footers. Saturday, June 21st marked our fifth and sixth 4,000 footer, an especially memorable hike. It started as many of our others, late June meant the black flies were out and they were all finding me but it was a beautiful day, a clear sky, the perfect day to get engaged. We climbed up Mt. Pierce, took some time to absorb the beautiful view at the top. Then we tackled Mt. Eisenhower, one of the more difficult hikes we've done (in my opinion). I remember the top of Mt. Eisenhower was freezing, which I learned after the fact caused Gavin to think quick on his feet as that was his plan on where to propose. Luckily, thinking on his feet has always been a strength for Gavin, and this was no different he picked the most perfect place something that we will cherish forever.
