We met at Penn State exactly four years and four days before we will tie the knot. It was August 26, 2021... Abbey was in her senior year, and Charlie was a junior. There was a school-wide bar crawl for the first week back to class. Abbey and her roommate Renee went on the bar crawl with their friend Erin. Erin was a mutual friend of Charlie's and she invited him to tag along. Charlie was late to the party, but this cute brunette he didn't know caught his eye as soon as he arrived at the first bar. Abbey insists she didn't notice Charlie until later that night at a different bar, so we see who married up here. :) The friends welcomed Charlie into their gang, and Charlie started seeing Abbey more whenever the gang was together. Finally after Erin and Renee prodded Abbey and Charlie about both being single, Charlie built up the courage to confront Abbey directly. The ever-suave Charlie sat by Abbey at dollar nacho night and tried to ask for Abbey's number by pulling up the gang's group chat and saying "I don't have anyone's number in here". Abbey wasn't falling for something so indirect and just said "me neither". Finally, Charlie had to ask "Abbey, what's your number?", and she obliged. Abbey and Charlie started talking more. Finally by Halloween we went on our first date together and quickly realized we were meant to be together. We spent the rest of our time at Penn State together until Abbey was in her master's program and Charlie graduated. Shortly after Charlie's graduation, we went on a cross-country road trip together to the Rose Bowl with stops on Rt. 66, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas along the way. We realized that if we could be in the car together for that long, we could make it for the long haul. When Abbey finished her master's degree, she joined Charlie in Pittsburgh. In October 2024, Charlie proposed to Abbey in State College. With the help of the same friends who introduced us, Abbey was totally surprised when Charlie made a turn to an overlook and proposed with his grandma's ring in front of light-up letters spelling "LOVER" (a reference to a Taylor Swift song of course). Within a month, we set our date, and that's why we can't wait to see you on August 30th, 2025 to tie the knot on our story!
