We officially spoke thanks to a mutual friend. Brent was looking for a wingman and asked Megan for help. Megan told Brent that I was single but was in need of a good man who would treat me well and give me all of the things I deserved in this life. Brent was up to the challenge so Megan relayed the information to me. I decided to take the risk and ask Brent out for drinks on October 13th, 2020. He suggested we have a proper dinner date and the rest is history. Thank you Megan :)

We were driving through the smoky mountains on our way home from vacation. We wanted to get a family picture with a view in the background. We were on a very windy road. I made Brent pull over because I was experiencing motion sickness and thought I was going to get sick. I got in the driver's seat in hopes that would help but I had to pull over--again. I thought we were going to have to turn around but Brent was determined to get this family picture. We finally made it to a look out spot. We had a stranger take our family picture. Brent suggested we take another photo just down the sidewalk. This is when I should have known something was up because no man ever wants to take one more picture. I walked ahead with the boys while Brent took Dakota's phone and typed her a message. He told her to get her phone ready because he was going to propose. While that was happening Reagan was trying to snoop and see what Brent had texted her. Dakota was trying to keep the message hidden so Reagan wouldn't blurt anything out and ruin the surprise. While that was happening Dakota dropped her phone and cracked her screen protecter. Yes, we are pretty much a hot mess all the time. I did not know any of this was happening behind me. When we got to the new spot, I told the kids to pose and I took their picture. Dakota told me to pose with Brent so she could take our picture. She was recording and that is when Brent got down on one knee. I took three big steps back like I was scared. I do not even remember him asking me because I was freaking out and crying. I told him to put the ring on my finger, to which he replied, "You have to say yes first and hurry up because my knee hurts." I quickly said yes and continued to cry. The kiddos were happy and we explained what it meant to the boys. I am so happy Dakota was in on it and captured the moment beautifully. It was an amazing moment that perfectly encompasses our crazy and wonderful life together.
