Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Abbey Horan and Alvy Cortes
Here are some of our favorite things to do in the area for our guests traveling from out of town. Thank you so much for making the journey, we can't wait to see you!

FitzGerald's

6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn, IL 60402

This is where we are having our Reception - BUT still worth visiting during one of their normal events. A beloved neighborhood destination since the early 1900s, FitzGerald’s has deep roots—beginning as a humble roadhouse and hunting lodge before evolving into a music-lover’s sanctuary under the FitzGerald family since 1980. Today, it’s a vibrant venue pulsing with live roots, blues, zydeco, and Americana, where an intimate atmosphere blends effortlessly with legendary community spirit and a legendary annual American Music Festival. More than a club, it’s a living slice of Chicago-area history with soul, rhythm, and unforgettable nights. Most shows are free!

The Green Mill

4802 North Broadway, Chicago, IL 60640

Step into a living time capsule at the legendary Green Mill—a storied jazz club with roots stretching back over a century. Founded in the early 1900s (originally as Pop Morse’s Roadhouse and later Green Mill Gardens), this Uptown Chicago icon has hosted everyone from Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong to jazz innovators of today. During Prohibition, the club took on a darker edge as a speakeasy favored by Al Capone and his associates. Rumor has it, patrons escaped through secret coal tunnels beneath the venue, and Capone’s favorite booth still remains—a vantage point offering views of both entrances. Today, the Green Mill is revered for its nightly live jazz, evocative Art Deco decor, and strict “silence during the music” ethos—creating a rare blend of history, artistry, and immersive atmosphere.

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603

Founded in 1879 and housed in a grand building from the 1893 World’s Fair, the Art Institute showcases nearly 300,000 artworks spanning ancient civilizations to cutting-edge contemporary pieces. Its galleries feature world-famous masterpieces such as Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Hopper’s Nighthawks, Grant Wood’s American Gothic, and Monet’s Water Lilies. P.S. For those wishing to see the BEAN this is a hop, skip, and a jump away!
