It all started in the summer of 2014, thanks to our mutual friend, who introduced us in the most modern way possible: video chatting on Oovoo. At first, we were just friends, chatting on the daily. Little did we know, this would be the beginning of something incredible. Fast forward a year, and Aarti started to realize that maybe her feelings for Kishen weren’t just “friendship” feelings. So, in a moment of brave honesty (and on his birthday, no less), she told Kishen how she felt. His response? He graciously "friend-zoned" her. Ouch. Naturally, Aarti took a step back to process her feelings (and maybe sulk a little). But Kishen, after a few weeks of reflection, had a lightbulb moment: Wait a second... I like her too! So, he reached out, apologized for his earlier blunder, and confessed that he had developed feelings for her as well. From there, it was smooth sailing (for the most part). After months of talking and getting to know each other even more, Kishen, ever the romantic, asked Aarti to be his girlfriend with flowers and chocolates on April 29, 2016. Their relationship only grew stronger as they navigated high school together and then both attended the University of Houston, where they continued to make memories and go on countless dates. The adventure didn’t stop there. They traveled to several states, explored new places, and made memories they’ll cherish forever. Then, in September of 2023, after 8 years of dating, Kishen popped the question in the mountains of Breckenridge, Colorado. Aarti said yes (of course), and now, after nearly a decade of dating, they are finally getting married. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people—the ones who have been there through every step of this journey.
