Why Dover, Ohio?

When searching for a venue, we quickly realized we wanted more than just a wedding day. We wanted an experience where our favorite people could slow down, relax, and celebrate together. Having coordinated weddings and events for much of her career, Sarah has seen just about everything when it comes to weddings. That experience ultimately inspired us to create something a little different, less about formality and more about atmosphere, meaningful moments, great food and drinks, live music, and simply being surrounded by good people. We stumbled upon the Meraki House last year and could immediately picture our wedding there. We also fell in love with the meaning behind its name. “Meraki” is a Greek word meaning to pour your heart, creativity, and soul into what you do. After visiting the property last fall, we knew it was the perfect setting for the kind of wedding weekend we hoped to create, simple, beautiful, memorable, and full of intention. Plus, it certainly doesn’t hurt that it’s nestled in the heart of Amish Country with beautiful scenery, cozy small town charm, and plenty to explore while you’re in town for the weekend.

Is the wedding adults only?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding weekend will be an adults only celebration. It is important to us that you have the opportunity to relax and fully enjoy the weekend with us. We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you!

What should I wear?

Answer

Dressy Outdoor Attire We invite guests to wear semi-formal attire that makes you feel confident and polished yet comfortable for an outdoor celebration. We kindly ask guests to skip denim and overly casual attire.

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving no later than 3 p.m. to ensure enough time to park, grab a beverage and find your seat. The ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.

Can we take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly ask guests to be fully present with us during the ceremony and leave the photos to our professional photographer. Once cocktail hour and the reception begin, feel free to snap away and share memories with us!

Will the ceremony and reception be at the same location?

Answer

Yes! Once you arrive at the venue, the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and after party will all take place on site.

Will the wedding be outdoors?

Answer

We will be outdoors, though the ceremony and majority of the reception will be covered under a pavilion. Please dress accordingly and consider footwear suitable for grass or uneven surfaces. We also recommend bringing an umbrella just in case, as some areas of the property, including the restrooms, require a short outdoor walk.

Where should I park?

Answer

Parking is now onsite. When you arrive to the Meraki House there will be folks ready to direct you to parking. Update: There will not be a shuttle service. If you’re attending with a group, we encourage carpooling.

We encourage guests to make the most of the weekend in Amish Country by taking time to relax, unwind, and explore the area while celebrating with us. We also recommend booking accommodations early, as lodging in the area can fill quickly during peak travel seasons.

Are Ubers/Lyfts available in the area?

Answer

Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft may be available in Dover and Strasburg, but availability can be limited and wait times may be longer than in larger cities. We recommend planning transportation in advance whenever possible. For guests needing transportation, local options include Performance Taxi in Dover and Amanda's Taxi Service and Transportation serving the surrounding area.
