She Said Yes! (Aaron & Rosemary Proposal 2022)

Nuestro Amor

It was Love at Virtual First Site.

It was February 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Six months prior, Rosemary recently returned to the U.S. - on a repatriation flight nonetheless - back to her frigid hometown of Fairbanks, after living and running her own business in Belize. Rosemary lived and worked, briefly again, in Fairbanks before accepting a new job and relocating to Anchorage. In an attempt to meet people, Rosemary did what any rational-thinking person would do: she downloaded dating apps. Swiping left and right became a regular routine. She met new people and went on dates but hadn't felt the spark. Then, on a cold February day, she swiped right on an unsuspecting guy. It was a match! Aaron had just completed his SHRM-CP exam in early February 2021. He enjoyed his job working as a recruiter, received a raise at work, and secured his own place after living with his brother for a couple of years. Things were looking up yet he had no one to share the bliss he was experiencing in his professional life. Aaron's immediate circle consisted of remote work virtual meetings, visiting his brother, and FaceTiming family. He tried a few dating apps, went on a few dates, and experienced a legitimate catfish situation. Aaron was striking out on the dating field and felt beleaguered. Then, while speaking with his brother over lunch, he learned about Bumble: a dating app that empowered women by allowing them to make the first move. After a few days and several dozen right swipes later, on a cold February day, he swiped right on an unsuspecting yet gorgeous gal. It was a match! The conversation didn't happen right away. Bumble provides women with a 24-hr window to decide if they want to engage or unmatch. Even though Aaron and Rosemary matched, he had to wait for her to make the first move. Then...a new chat bubble arrived, "I'll eat the pickles off the burger if you eat the onions ;)." On Aaron's profile, he wrote he hates pickles. On Rosemary's profile, she wrote she hates raw onion. It was the perfect first message. Funny, light, and playful. They chatted further learning about each other, their lives, careers, family, etc. Everything was going great. They were both genuinely interested in each other. It felt natural and the kind of thing they'd been searching to find. As the conversation progressed, they proposed to meet each other. Before venturing out into the real world, they opted for a video chat on Bumble. They hadn't exchanged phone numbers but wanted to see each other face-to-face. The video chat went great and both found each other extremely handsome/beautiful. Eventually, they both agreed on a first date over breakfast at a local Bavarian spot in Anchorage. After a delicious breakfast and one impromptu pedicure later, the rest is history.
