Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

We absolutely love your children—and we know how much they mean to you. Since our wedding is a destination celebration and spans a few days, we’ve thoughtfully decided to make all events adults-only. We hope this gives you a chance to truly relax, celebrate, and enjoy a little getaway! Thank you so much for understanding and supporting this decision—it means the world to us.

Question

Are you getting legally married in the Dominican?

Answer

So… how’s your Spanish? Would you like to watch a Dominican government official—whom we've never met—officiate our wedding in a language most of us barely passed in high school? Yeah… neither would we. To us, our wedding is about more than paperwork and passport stamps. It’s about making promises we actually understand, with words we’ve chosen, in front of the people who mean the most to us. That means having someone we know (and like!) officiate, and creating a ceremony that feels personal, heartfelt, and very us. Unfortunately, the legal wedding process in the Dominican Republic is about as romantic as a DMV line. Between the bureaucracy, the legal jargon, and the language barrier, it just didn’t represent what this moment means to us. So, we’re doing something simple, meaningful, and slightly out of order: We’ll be legally married in the U.S. before we fly out—quietly, without fanfare, just the two of us and a pen. The real celebration, the vows, the dancing, the “we do’s,” and the people who matter most (that’s you!) will all happen at our wedding in the Dominican Republic. We just wanted to be upfront with you about it—because marriage is built on honesty and that's how we intend to start this celebration! And really, what better place to be legally married than in the country we call home?
