The ceremony AND reception will take place at the Pine Mountain Settlement School. 36 State Hwy 510, Bledsoe, KY 40810
The ceremony will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th, 2019. Reception will follow on the same grounds at the Laurel House.
We are registered on Amazon and Zola. Many of the more expensive items have the option of contributing a certain amount of money until enough has been contributed to cover the expense. We are honored and ever grateful to have this opportunity to share the beginning of our marriage with you! We humbly and gracefully appreciate any desire to give us a gift!
Because Harlan is a small town, the hotels/rooms can book quickly, especially with many tourists coming into town for ATV trail-riding. We would recommend booking a room ASAP especially if planning on staying at the Benham School House Inn.
Not a lot. There is a section on our website listing that information. Look for "Things to Do".
BREAKFAST!! We are HUGE fans of breakfast, and decided that was the meal we would both most enjoy on our wedding day. Come hungry! Come ready to share laughter and some corny dance moves!
We will have a place set up for child care and a couple of people hired to take care of them during the ceremony. We hope to save the inconvenience of finding someone to babysit, we would request that adults only come to the ceremony to avoid unnecessary distractions.
While we do not believe that drinking alcohol in and of itself is sinful, we will not be serving alcohol at our wedding. Harlan County is a very conservative area and we also are mindful that people attending the service may have struggled with - or are struggling with - alcoholism in their life. We look to 1 Corinthians 8:8-13 which states, "Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble."
Unfortunately there is no cell phone reception once on the grounds of the settlement school. There is enough service while navigating Pine Mountain that your GPS will have no trouble getting you there if it has been previously programmed in as the destination. There is free WiFi available at the reception hall: the Laurel House.
