One of my best friends, Leigh invited me to come over to one of her and Aaron's mutual friend's houses to have some drinks and hangout for the night. The funny part is, she calls me "Josh," it's a nickname I've had forever and needless to say when she said her friend Josh was coming - everyone who didn't know me thought some guy was coming.. including Aaron. When I arrived, Leigh introduced me to him as "Moody" and then we all went off to hangout. Later on, I asked her if he was the guy she had told me about who had the police dog and she said yes! (She had told me about him before and thought we would be great together.) He and I started talking - he showed me the doggie cam he had on Stryker (that suckered me in pretty quick) and we kept chatting all night long. It's pretty much history from there!
Aaron and I decided to go stay out on Monhegan Island for Memorial Day Weekend. We took The Hardy Boat out of New Harbor early Saturday morning and of course I got sea sick on the way there. So, we arrived on the island and walked up to the hotel to get settled in. After relaxing for a bit we decided to go for a walk down to one of our favorite places on the island. There's an old shipwreck there that's been there for many years and is a really popular spot on the island, there's ocean all around you and it's gorgeous. We stood there for a while just looking around and then decided to walk some more (it was raining but we pushed through.) But before we left Aaron said "I have a question" and I didn't think anything of it so I just responded "what?" He went into his backpack and pulled out a sunglasses case and opened it up and it had sunglasses in it (obviously right?) So, he put the case back in his bag - by this point I was confused. Then, he pulled out another sunglasses case and that one had my ring in it. I of course was balling at this point while he was saying all these sweet things, then he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I said YES! Finally, as if that wasn't enough - he surprised me and had our parents come out the next day to spend the day with us. Best weekend of my life? Definitely yes.
