He would often stop by HR with his dog, never saying much. He didn’t ask for anything—just came in, hid something for his dog to find, and left. It became a regular routine. One day, Jessica’s coworker mentioned that she thought this officer might be interested in her. But Jessica wasn’t looking for anything, especially after her recent divorce. Then, one day, everything changed. Jessica was running HR by herself for the first time, and the officer saw his opportunity to speak with her alone. He introduced himself, and they talked far longer than they probably should have, given they were supposed to be working.
