Our Love Story

It all started in 2008 at Wendy’s in Hernando, Mississippi. I was 16 and had just started a new job, and Aaron was already working there. He remembers me walking behind the counter and being instantly curious about who I was. He admired me from afar, believing I wouldn't be interested. As time went on, he finally approached me after a shift and asked for my number. Early on, he told me I was going to be his wife—but I didn’t believe him. We were young, and I always thought he was a player. In 2010, I went off to college, and Aaron and I stayed loosely in contact. We had developed a good friendship and would meet up to catch up in the Walmart parking lot—our meeting spot. We would sit in the car and talk for hours. After a few months, we lost contact. While I was in school, I didn’t reach out to Aaron, but he would ask his godbrother about me since we attended the same university. About a year after I graduated, I reached out to Aaron to catch up. From time to time, we met again at our spot just to talk. He would share stories about his family, and I would listen. We genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. Fast forward to 2018, I asked Aaron why he had never pursued me during all the years we had known each other. He said, “I didn’t think I was your type, and you kept me in the friend zone.” Our story shines a light on genuine friendship being the foundation of our love. After many years of friendship, we officially began dating and have learned so much from one another. We are so excited about our future and strive to reflect God in everything we do—together.
