Sunday, June 24th, 2018... American Airlines (AA, coincidentally), Flight 2334 from DFW to PHL. Amanda sat in 27D and Aaron in 27E. Amanda and Aaron both attended Deloitte's National Leadership Conference in Westlake, TX. This is a three-day conference for Sophomores and Juniors in college and invitations are extended to a select number of applicants across the country. Funny enough, Aaron and Amanda did not meet at the conference, but rather on the flight back home. Aaron used to dress in business casual for all of his flights, so Amanda assumed he must be coming from Deloitte University and potentially already work there. Amanda decided to strike up a conversation just as Aaron was about to put his AirPods in with "Hi! I'm Amanda - did you just come from Deloitte University too?" Amanda and Aaron chatted the whole flight and when Amanda’s mom picked her up from the airport, Amanda told her she sat next to a really nice guy from Souderton and who knows, maybe one day he could be her future husband. They followed one another on Instagram after the flight, but that was that. Aaron went on to study abroad in London for six weeks during the end of Summer 2018 & then to his Junior year at University of South Carolina, and Amanda went on to her Senior year at Penn State. They both graduated in May of 2020. Amanda & Aaron were both studying for their CPA exams and started work full-time in the Fall of 2020 (Aaron for Deloitte in Charlotte & Amanda for PwC in Philly - both fully remote, of course). Friday, November 27th, 2020… Aaron messaged Amanda on Instagram telling her he was back home (Souderton, PA) for the holidays and he really enjoyed their conversation if she would want to go out for brunch or dinner before he headed back down to Charlotte. Amanda came running downstairs to her mom and said “Mom, do you remember the guy that I sat next to on my flight from Dallas to Philly two summers ago?! He just messaged me on Instagram asking me on a date. Do I go?!?” to which she replied “of course you do!!!!”. Sunday, November 29th, 2020… Aaron and Amanda met for brunch at Stove & Tap in Lansdale, PA. Time flew and they talked about everything under the sun, as if they had known each other forever. When Amanda got home, she told her mom and sister how amazing their date was and that she really hoped she could see Aaron again before he went back to Charlotte. In fact, she yelled over the banister to her mom that she really wanted to ask him if he wanted to go Axe Throwing before he left, but Amanda’s mom seemed to think that may lead Aaron to believe she was a crazy person, so she did not mention anything. Well… that night, Aaron texted Amanda that he had a great time at brunch and would really like to see her again before he left. She shared the same sentiment. Then Aaron texted her that he “had a question for her”. Amanda, of course, was quite nervous about what this question could possibly be... Aaron texted her “have you ever thrown an axe before?”. She yelled down to her mom: “MOM, YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE WHAT HE JUST TEXTED ME. HE ASKED ME IF I HAVE EVER THROWN AN AXE BEFORE”. So on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020… Amanda & Aaron went axe throwing together. Luckily for them both, Christmas and New Years were right around the corner, so their time apart was not incredibly long. Aaron came back to PA for the holidays and they spent more time together, quickly realizing just how much they meant to one another. They started planning out the next times they would see one another. Amanda would fly down to Charlotte and Aaron would drive back to PA. On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, Amanda moved down to Charlotte for what was supposed to be three months. Well, it is now 2024 and the two own a home together in Charlotte with their Golden Retriever, Miles (no, Miles does not contribute to the mortgage payments, unfortunately). And now, on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, the two will be saying “I Do” to spending the rest of their lives together.
