POV: AMALIA We met through the dating app called "Bumble" where the females make the first move to initiate convos with the guys. TECHNICALLY speaking, my rule was that if a guys profile didn't have more than three photos then I had to swipe left (=no match/interest). Aaron only had two photos but I ended up taking a chance on him because of his smile and how he'd combat a zombie apocalypse (he'd go barricade himself in Fleet Farm). We decided to meet up in real life after some ongoing conversations about ourselves. The first date: the Minnesota Zoo for adult night. The expectation: I had a series of unsuccessful dates and was really planning to take a break from the dating apps after this one with Aaron. Not hopeful at all. The first impression: I thought, "WOW HE HAS BIG MUSCLES" and a "is his butt bigger than mine??". After getting over his muscles, we made our way to the outside portion of the zoo where it started to rain on us...HARD. Fortunately, both of us didn't want the date to end so we quickly ran through the rain together to the gift shop where Aaron swooned me with a "Don't you want to get a matching t-shirt with me?" because his current shirt was soaked. The man bought matching t-shirts, an umbrella, and ponchos for us and the rest was history. We ended up getting kicked out of the zoo because they were closing and I remember smiling all the way home in my matching t-shirt. We went on to have three more dates in one week.
Aarons POV: Looking for something serious, I hopped on the dating app train. With two photos and a dream, I set forth to find someone special. When I found Mollie we shared our favorite music, movies and details about the type of people we were. We agreed to meet and we set forth on our first date at the Zoo! Starting out strong, I was stuck in the turn lane to the zoo, and was late. She knew, but I figured it was over for me! As I walked up to the entrance, she shared with me that she was sitting on the right half-wall. Continuing my "lucky" streak, I was looking left, and who I saw, was not Mollie! I could only wonder "Am I being cat fished?!". Scouring the crowd, I looked right and with relief spotted her. Walking up to her, my first thoughts were "she's just like her photos, beautiful and I was not cat fished!". I became shy and timid. Walking around, we had so many great connections. Conversations were flowing easier than ever. Loving the animals and the zoo's adult-only vibe, it was time for my streak to continue, RAIN! Not just a sprinkle, but a down pour. We scurried to the nearest pavilion and took a moment to regroup. Still pouring rain, we ran to the gift shop to get an umbrella or poncho. I didn't want the date to end. Soaked, I wanted to change my shirt with a dry one from the gift shop. We walked in and looked around. I found a nice shirt, one she looked at, and I looked at Mollie and thought "not everything has gone right, but maybe I can turn it around". I said to her "Don't you want to get a matching tshirt with me?". Agreeing, we changed and started walking around talking, laughing. I was falling for her each exhibit at a time. Later into the night, closing down the zoo we walked out, hugged, and being an independent strong girl she is, said she'd walk to her car alone. So I walked in parallel with her, thinking "wow, she's something, and I hope she had as much fun and felt the same I had.". Nearly two years later, I asked her to be my partner, lover, my wife for the rest of our lives and she said YES!
