Downtown Decatur is a great walkable area that features lots of great restaurants and local shops. It's also where Aaron proposed! Some of our favorite hangouts include Victory Bar (great cocktails, sandos, and ping pong), the Iberian Pig (upscale Spanish cuisine), the Pinewood (awesome cocktails and food), and the Brick Store (fantastic selection of beer). Squash Blossom is one of Adrienne's favorite ridiculously expensive boutiques where she wishes she shopped on a regular basis.
Rated the #1 museum in Atlanta, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights downtown is an engaging cultural attraction that connects the American Civil Rights Movement to today’s struggle for Global Human Rights.
The Eastside Trail stretches from Piedmont Park in the north to Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward in the south, passing by the greatest concentration of industrial architecture in Atlanta adapted for residential reuse and as offices, retail, dining and shopping, the most notable example being Ponce City Market.
This well-curated space "focuses on the future of fashion design, connecting conceptual to historical principles of dress — whether ceremonial, celebratory or casual — and welcomes visitors of all ages to engage with dynamic exhibitions, captivating films and educationally enriching events." It also has one of the most spectacular views of the Atlanta skyline!
The Fabulous Fox Theatre was originally planned as part of a large Shrine Temple as evidenced by its Moorish design. It was ultimately developed as a lavish movie theater in the Fox Theatres chain and opened in 1929. The Fox has daytime tours where you can learn about the history and see the spectacular interior!
The original Tiki bar and one of Aaron's favorite places in the city.
