How Sandy Met Aaron: We met on the second day of the November Meeting in Stanton 2016. It was close to the end of the meeting. Chairs, tables, everything was being put away. Ary was helping to put chairs away and I was with her. Ary asked Aaron something but spoke to him in a way out of the ordinary. I wondered why and realized it was because he was deaf. I knew very little sign language and between texting on the phone and my broken signing we were able to communicate. There was a fellowship after the meeting and I found myself in the backyard around a fire pit with some of the kids and Christians. Aaron came over and taught me the word "fire" in sign language and we continued talking until it was time to go. How Aaron Met Sandy: We met on the second day of the November Meeting in Stanton in 2016. The meeting was ending and people were putting away chairs, tables, etc. Ary was helping put away chairs and tables. I was talking to her and she was making gestures and moving her lips in a way that I could understand her easily. After she walked away, Sandy walked up to me and asked me if I was Deaf and I said, "Yes." She and I carried a conversation in sign language even though her signing was rudimentary. Later that night, there was a fellowship and I saw her again. I thought to myself, "I want to talk to this pretty lady and maybe teach her more signs since she was learning sign language." I approached her and taught her the sign for the word "fire" and we continued to talk. The Rest of the Story... Two years later we saw each other again at the November meeting in Phoenix and really enjoyed talking to each other. Two years after that during the pandemic in 2020, Aaron texted Sandy out of the blue... letters later... visits later... Aaron moved to San Diego in November 2021. Aaron proposed on February 26, 2022 and Sandy said, "YES!"
