HOW WE MET

8/30/2018

We met through a mutual friend. She asked each of us if we'd be interested in meeting. Neither of us was super excited about a blind date, but we were willing. Aaron called me, and asked if I'd want to get together. He suggested that even if we got along we should pretend it was the worst blind date ever. I love a fun prank, so of course, I was in! We got together (without telling telling Suzanne and planned our "1st date"), then 2 days later put the plan into action! It was a success! Meeting this way was perfect, since it totally took the pressure off and we traded awkward small talk for playful planning. So right away it was fun and we realized we had a similar sense of humor. After the planning and the prank, Aaron asked me out on a "real" date. He planned a lovely picnic on the beach. P.S. There was a couple there that day getting engaged, and another man searching for treasure with a metal detector (keep this in mind for later). Happily that date went well too and from there things just continued moving in a good direction until...

THE PROPOSAL

8/31/19

One year later! For the 1 year anniversary of our meeting, Aaron planned a weekend getaway for us up in Santa Barbara. While we were there, we went for a walk on the beach...and he brought his metal detector! (So my mind jumped back to that date on the beach a year ago.) Since I had an inkling of what might be happening I was a tad curious/concerned that he had buried a ring in the sand! Obviously, he had a whole plan in place. He had asked his friends Robert & Jennifer to bury the ring and then keep watch over it. We walked along the beach (he with the metal detector and me with a little rake) searching for treasure. About 1/4 mile down the beach there was some beeping, and with the help of the rake, a black box popped out of the sand. We both stared at it for what seemed like 5 minutes (probably more like 3 seconds) expecting the other one to pick it up! Honestly, I'm not quite sure who ended up picking it up, but I do know that Aaron got down on one knee and proposed...and I said Yes! We decided that we could plan a wedding in 4 months, so here we go! Can't wait to have you join us in December!!
