How We Met

2018

After "sliding into my DMs" and after several attempts to meet, we finally set a date to meet at my favorite restaurant Ruth Chris. He was late, let him tell it, he wanted to see me from afar to make sure I was real and he wasn't being "Catfished". Just as I was about to cash out, he finally showed up (looking like a whole man). Fast forward, a two hour dinner turned into a never ending date. We talked about everything for hours and hours. I knew it was God telling me to take my time as I sipped my wine while I waited! :) I'm so grateful I did!

The Proposal

First Comes Love, then Comes COVID!

2020 went totally unexpected and took us by surprise but despite it all, God has been good to us. After purchasing our first home together, Donovan was eager to have it filled with items we loved in a short amount of time for our housewarming. I couldn't understand the rush but now I know. After everyone arrived to our housewarming, he wanted to play a game of 'Heads Up' as an icebreaker and of course, I was WINNING. While acting out the next item, Donovan unexpectedly got down on one knee. I was still trying to win the game and didn't realize what he was doing. Then he grabbed my hand, recited some lyrics from my favorite artist, Luther Vandross. "A chair is still a chair, even when there's no one sitting there, but a chair is not a house and a house is not a home when there's no one there". He went on to say he wouldn't be doing what God wanted him to do if he waited another day, another hour, another minute or second without asking me to be his wife. Of course I said "Yes! ....talk about winning!!
