It was second semester in our second year at university: Welcome Week, to be exact. My best friend Lucille had invited me over to her dorm, and we were in the middle of watching The Office when we heard a knock at the door. Lucille didn’t have a roommate at the time, so we had no idea who it could be. Like any gentleman would, I went to answer it and that’s when I met her. Standing there was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She quite literally took my breath away. With her soft, doe eyes, she looked just as surprised to see me as I was to see her. She paused, a little flustered, and said, “I didn’t ask for a co-ed room… I think I’m in the wrong place. Sorry for bothering you.” She started to turn away, ready to leave. I quickly told her, “No, no this isn’t my room. It’s Lucille’s.” And just like that, I could see the relief wash over her. Welcome Week is chaotic, and the thought of going back to stand in another long line for a room would’ve been torture. What neither of us knew in that moment… was that a simple knock on the wrong door would lead to everything. Come celebrate our love, and maybe you’ll hear the rest of our love story told from all points of view.
