Clayton and I met through mutual friends during our time in high school. By junior year, we became friends with no romantic interest, but began spending more time together through our group of friends. Before our senior year of high school, Clayton made the decision to transfer schools to pursue his love of football where our friendship continued to grow.
When it came time to leave for college, Clayton headed to Jackson, Mississippi to play football and I packed my bags for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Despite the 3 hour distance, we travelled back and forth every month or so and became the best of friends. It wasn't until our freshman year was coming to an end that we realized our friendship had developed into something a little more romantic. After months of "dating", Clayton finally asked me to be his girlfriend with a Taco Bell hot sauce packet that said, "Go ahead, ask her". And of course, I said yes!
In our last semester of college and 3 years of dating, Clayton accepted a job offer in Reno, Nevada. During his two years in Nevada, Clayton began writing encoded letters that were slowly asking me to marry him. Thankfully, I kept every single letter and my stealthy friends helped retrieve the letters a few days before the proposal. On March 16, 2020, Clayton planned us a night away in Galveston and asked me to take pictures on the beach before dinner. He brought me to a beautiful white stage on the Seawall, offered me an 'Extra' stick of gum (the commercial is how we got our song) and got down on one knee. Of course, I said YES to my best friend and turned around to find a random "tourist" snapping some pictures of our special moment. It was our photographer that he hired! Just when I thought the surprises were over, in front of the stage was a shadow box of all the letters he used to ask me to marry him and a Taco Bell packet saying "Marry Me"! Our journey to being the Future Mr. & Mrs. Webb has been so incredible and we cannot wait to celebrate with you!
