This walking mall gives a glimpse into the historic nature of Winchester, VA. Located in the heart of the city the pedestrian street offers everything from quaint little shops to fun food options for the whole family! Parking on the street is free from Friday at 6:00 pm through Sunday so don't worry about paying the meters!
One of the bride's favorite restaurants to eat on the downtown walking strip is the Snow White Grill! Nestled between two larger buildings, you would miss this gem if you didn't know to look for it. The Grill opened in 1948, and is known for their juicy mini-burgers. The Diner is still set up like it would have been in the 40s and has kept its charm and great taste through the years.
Bringing the kiddos? The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum is a great place to entertain children for hours. Each floor creates a new experience for students from ages 2-12 to learn through hands-on play and wonder. They have everything from a real life ambulance to a Native American exhibit, an Apple orchard with pulleys to a jungle gym. Such a fun place to let the kids explore safely, (but believe me, it's fun for the adults too!)
Winchester is brimming with history! As one the the border cities between the Union and the Confederacy, Winchester changed hands more than 70 times during the Civil War! The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley strives to pay homage to this incredible history. They have three main exhibits that are constant and rotating exhibits that will vary throughout the year. Stunning gardens also surround the beautiful museum. During summer the plants will be in full bloom and absolutely breathtaking!
Mexican food is the bride's favorite type of food! The rancho, in her opinion, is the best you can get. All you can eat chips and salsa is a mainstay of any Mexican Restaurant, but get the queso and you might as well just make that your meal! Authentic Mexican food, a fun atmosphere and great prices ranks this restaurant as Hannah's all-time favorite!
