SHAWN & MIMIE: It was 1994 in Schweinfurt Germany when fourteen year old Mimie and fifteen year old Shawn first met. While stationed in Germany and living in the Askren Manor housing area, the basketball court was where the “not so shy” Shawn Gadson introduced himself to the then "Mimie Campbell". This innocent meeting led to friendship, memories and countless laughs throughout their teenage courtship. Their relationship lasted for only one year before Shawn’s family was relocated to North Carolina while Mimie stayed in Germany until her family relocated to Georgia in 1996. Years and distance separated the two with no further communication. The two did however hold memories of each other, wondered about their respective paths, and one even subconsciously doodled the other’s name for years. A single Facebook conversation with mutual friends and a chance reunion at a pivotal point in both of their lives reunited Mimie and Shawn nearly 30 years later. It was by chance and fate that Mimie and Shawn found themselves in a position to build upon their old friendship. Today they describe their genuine love for one another as easy, fun, respectful and the “single missing piece” to their life puzzle. According to the much wiser and future Groom, “she has become my best friend, she offers me peace of mind & encouragement to be the best version of myself going forward”. Through previous unions, Mimie and Shawn share five beautiful children ranging from the age of 21 to 13. They consider their children as their greatest gifts from God. To grow with and connect all of their children is one of their heart’s desire. Some fun facts about the future Mr. and Mrs. Gadson– * They were each other’s 1st kiss nearly 30 years ago! * They fell in love 3 decades later after only 2 weeks of pure conversation! * They dated for barely 6 months before realizing they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together! * They made a commitment to plan a wedding with only a 2 month window ahead of them–yikes! The future bride and groom would like to thank you for your support over the years! They respectfully ask for God, their immediate/extended families as well as their dear friends to come celebrate and pray over their union on October 7, 2023.
